light chaser and the moon

Many of you will remember, I am a light chaser. I almost never sleep well when the full moon is in phase. This means I’m up early–‘sparrow fart’ we call it here. This morning was no different, so off I went in search of the majesty that flows when the moon is full.

I didn’t intend to chase it over hill and dale and around the outcrops, but it is a kind of drunkenness that overcomes me when I am chasing the light. So I jogged, at times, through rocks, prickles and spiky grasses to get every bit of light I could into my lens.

Here is the chase…

full-moon-mt-gillen — from a nearby rocky outcrop, the moon and Mt Gillen

full-moon-eucalyptus — playing hide and seek

And I will say ‘farewell’ for a few days, perhaps 10 or so, depending on internet connections, as we take a short break from our beautiful Alice.

Love the shots – as a self confessed moon admirer I can relate. My husband is prone to mutter as he steps over me in the moonlit garden whilst I am trying to get the perfect shot “another photo of the moon?” 😀

I saw the moon this morning, aglow through the trees and clouds, and wondered if you were seeing it to… and you were. The photos do it great justice.

It was on its way to me. And it was beautiful as it reflected off of fields of snow that are glazed with a layer of ice. A very different scene from yours. But the moon that we love is the very same. Your photos are beautiful.

I’m a moon chaser too, Ardys. It also keeps me awake, and the same is true with my animals. I have spent many an evening checking in the middle of the night on my hound to find him standing on the back porch in the same spot for hours, just gazing out across the land, lit by moonlight and high-strung with bewitching energy.
Your photos are mesmerizing.
I hope your trip will be picture-worthy and restful!

The moon this morning was one of the most beautiful moons I have ever seen. Just a sliver as it wanes down to the darkest phase, curved upwards like a shallow bowl and filled with a dark red orb. Amazing.

  I know, it was amazing. That smiling sliver of moon is my favourite. A few times it has appeared with Venus in perfect alignment with our driveway. And as I walk up the driveway for my morning walk I see it there, smiling at me and I just love it. Thanks for following, I feel I’ve met another kindred spirit online today!
