What I did when the internet was out

, , ,

If you are reading this, you will know my internet is back on.  You know how it is, the everyday struggle.  We come to an obstacle and meet it with force.  We want things to be another way.  I spent two hours on the telephone last Friday, trying to sort a problem with our stereo which works off the wireless network in our home.  (You get the short version of this.)  That led me to a problem with the router that provides the wireless network. The router needed its software updated.  We selected ‘yes’. It seems the update ‘broke its spirit’… and by that I mean, it broke.  Though the router is only 9 months old, it was done with life as we know it.  If I have learned nothing, I have learned with IT problems ‘this too shall pass’.  Of course it happened on a Friday, after the express post service cut-off deadline. And so I waited four days, to receive the warranty replacement.  I had to pay for express freight, even though we live outside the overnight zone.  What did I do with myself in the early morning, when I would normally read email and blog posts?

I did a thing I have been meaning to do for years.

I watched and photographed an entire sunrise while Celtic Woman sang in my ears…

See the paradise with me

Awake and arise with me

IMG_8617I am the dawn, I’m the new day begun

I bring you the morning, I bring you the sun

I hold back the night and I open the skies

IMG_8620I give light to the world, I give sight to your eyes

From the first of all time, until time is undone

Forever and ever and ever and ever

IMG_8623And I am the dawn and the sky and the sun

I am one with the One, and I am the dawn

IMG_8627I am the sky and the dawn and the sun

I am the sky and new day begun

I am the sky and the dawn and the sun.”

Have a wonderful day.

  1. Beautiful – they say something must die for something to be born – well your router had to die for that gorgeous day to be born 🙂

    1. Well said, Charlotte. I was thinking something very similar as I was standing there that morning.

    1. Thanks David. I must say, I’m sure I will have forgotten the frustration long before the memory of that morning!

    it will get better yet!

  4. Mercury is retrograde, unsurprisingly. But the are silver linings if you look for them. In this case, the linings are even more beautifully hued that precious metal.
It sounds like a sublime experience, more than enough I hope to ease the stress of uncooperative IT equipment.
I need to get out and about more in the mornings before work myself. To facilitate it, I will download a copy of The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun, by Celtic Woman, as I know a place that despite the steep hill is a lovely place to greet the day.

    1. I might have known it was Mercury’s fault! It was a very sublime experience. I hope you have the same.

  5. Beautiful photos and beautiful songs – I love the sunrise and feel so very happy that I could share yours today. The best thing about winter (well one of the best things about winter in the Northern hemisphere) is that the sunrise is late, so even a sleepy head like me gets to see it most mornings in January. I am glad you are back online, as I have missed you xx

    1. Thank you Joanna. Growing up in a farming family I have always been an early riser and so have seen many sunrises in my life, but I never tire of them. So happy to be back online :))
