To those of you who are interested… the Finke race finishes today but for our Chad it finished late yesterday.  He had a crash about 40k into the 240k first leg and injured his shoulder (the one he injured very badly several years ago).  Keen to finish, he struggled on, trying to tightly hold the hand grips to compensate for his shoulder.  Turns out the hand grips were the major problem and for some reason were slipping, which made the fact that he rode another 200k in that condition nothing short of heroic.  Even after all of that he was 14th, the same place he had started, and only 17 minutes off the pace of the first place rider.

When he arrived at the halfway point, where contestants spend the night and re-group, his hands were so badly blistered and his shoulder so stiff and sore, he realised the smart decision was to stop.  We are so grateful he was not injured worse and think he is amazing!  His mates are coming today and will no doubt support him, as his family has done.  He’s a lucky man… we are lucky to have him in our lives.
