We arrived home nearly a week ago already. Where does the time go? Our most recent trip was right here in Australia, my favourite place to travel. This time we were being tour guides to friends who came here for the first time. Aside from seeing a bit of the country, they wanted to see the inside of as many wineries as possible. Oh damn. Nasty job but someone had to do it. (I am preparing a separate post on the food and wine portion of the trip, if you can stand it!)
Relating to you a blow by blow description seemed boring to me to write and probably for you to read, so having done my usual copious number of photos, I thought I’d just make this a mostly photographic representation of the trip which was 2500 kilometres long, starting from Adelaide. We flew from Alice to Adelaide, another 1500 k (1000 miles). We drove a big loop from Adelaide southeast to Padthaway and Coonawarra wine growing regions, through the Grampian Mountains, along the Great Ocean Road from Warrnambool to Melbourne, where our visitors departed, then Don and I drove back to Warrnambool where we drove the remaining part of the Great Ocean Road northwest until we were near Adelaide. I was once again reminded, we have some of the most spectacular scenery in the world, here in our own back yard… Toto, we are in Oz.
Can you stand a few more photos??? I told you I took lots!
